What is Dicronite®?

Dicronite® (DL5®) is the original precision dry film lubricant, a modified Tungsten Disulfide (WS₂) developed for NASA in 1965. Applied using dry air at ambient temperatures with no binders, adhesives, or carriers — and no cure time required.

Core Benefits

Friction & Wear Reduction

Ultra-low coefficient of friction (μ=0.030) dramatically reduces wear on components.

Anti-Seize / Anti-Galling

Prevents seizing, galling, and fretting in critical components under extreme conditions.

Mold Release

Enhances plastic mold release and material flow for manufacturing applications.

Lubricant Compatibility

Works as a co-lubricant with conventional oils and greases to enhance performance.

Coating Compatibility

Can be co-deposited with Nickel, Chromium, or Titanium coatings.

Extreme Environments

Substitute for conventional lubricants in high-vacuum and extreme temperature scenarios.

How It Works

Dicronite® is applied using dry air at ambient temperatures (maximum 35°C). The coating bonds directly to the substrate material without any binders, adhesives, or carriers. With a maximum thickness of just 0.5 microns (0.000020 inches), it preserves the precision tolerances of engineered components. The coating can also be reapplied over itself without needing to strip the previous layer.
